Javier Gozalvez was elected 2017 President of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) at the IEEE VTC2016-Fall conference that took place in Montreal (Canada) during September 2016. Javier already served as President in 2016, so this is his second and final term as President.

Researchers from Universitat Politècnica de València have developed a new system and its configuration for Wireless 5G communication between vehicles at roads. The main goal is to guarantee the optimum operation of each vehicle communication equipment and its interconnection in a 5G technology use scenario, and thereby contribute to reduce the number of traffic crashes and to increase the levels of road safety. This proposal is part of METIS-II project funded by the EU through the H2020 programme. Researchers from ITEAM presented their work in the Mobile World Congress at the European Commission Stand.

La investigadora fue pionera en el estudio de las telecomunicaciones inalámbricas a 60 GHz, la frecuencia que utilizarán la próxima generación de móviles, y ya está probando cómo se amplía la capacidad de transmisión de datos en la banda de 100 GHz. Una tecnología que podría usarse en el ámbito sanitario para realizar electrocardiogramas sin necesidad de cables.
